FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

+ HOW DO PROFESSOR/INSTRUCTOR CREDITS WORK?

Simple! Each Instructor Credit purchased allows you 1-hour of the Instructor’s one-on-one attention. Once your purchase is complete, your instructor will contact you within 24-hours to arrange the best way to fulfill your request. Some common ways to use your credits are:

  • Correspondence Help (i.e. via email, text, etc.)
  • Feedback & Grading on assignments (i.e. by email, phone, or through document review editing and comments made in the margins of your work, etc.)
  • Group/Church Consultation and/or Video Meeting(s) (i.e. an online personal or group connection tailored for feedback, as you complete the coursework).
  • Clinics/Workshops/Customization (i.e. enlist the instructor to tailor certain information to your context, skill level, or specific needs within your community).

+ HOW DO PROFESSOR CREDITS SAVE ME MONEY?

Most collegiate courses range in cost from $550 - $2500 a course. Most professional one-on-one private instruction ranges in cost from $60 - $100/an hour and requires 6-18 months to master different phases of a new skill (adding up to at least $1800 - $3000).

  • Savings #1: All of our courses are $50-$250 and include even more video/audio content, materials, readings, and assignments than the normal class or lesson environment. You save between $100 - $2600 on average – Save 70%-90%.
  • Savings #2: We offer credits for as low as $55/hr., which beats most private instruction rates … AND for example, you could also choose to enlist a professor/instructor for all 8-10 weeks of each course, and still never top $550, let alone reach the top end of normal college course costs – Save 50%-75%.

+ HOW MUCH DOES 1 CREDIT GET ME?

Each credit buys you 1-hour of the Instructor's time. A lot can be accomplished in 1-hour. You can use your credits for ANYTHING you want. Here's some ideas:

  • Grading and Feeback on up to 3 Assignments
  • Immediate assistance and correspondance
  • Interaction with the Professor in 4 Different Discussions
  • Co-creating on 1 Creative Assignment
  • One-on-one video meeting with your group or church
  • Up to 2 Private Lessons
  • Publishing, Production, or Recording Consultation on any of your personal creative projects.

+ HOW IS THE DEGREE SO CHEAP WHILE PRESERVING COMMUNITY ...

Most 42-Credit Hour Degree Programs average between $30k-$50k to complete. Plus, you have to leave your home, family, and friends, in order to learn. Learning in the aformentioned way produces not only debt but a disconnect between content and context. Our degree costs $1,581, and you can do it 100% within your context.

+ HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT FROM OTHER EDUCATIONAL MODELS?

There are three current modes of education: online, academic, and contextual:

  • Online: positively gives us a chance to globally interact but is negatively impersonal and disconnected.
  • Academic: positively is informed and abstract but is often negatively removed from concrete day-to-day reality.
  • Contextual: positively enriches people with real community where they live but is negatively narrow and often isolated from all that’s out there.

We intentionally seek to connect these three modes via our Instructor Credits to give you a one-of-a-kind experience:

  • Online: Connecting through video chat platforms (i.e. skype, zoom, etc.) we give you, your group/church, and others, the chance to interact with those around the world you wouldn’t otherwise meet.
  • Academic: Our academics often have the time and best access to research related to your interest. We personally connect information and professionals to you in order to better serve you in your learning.
  • Contextual: This is where we are DIFFERENT from modern education models. All our projects, assignments, and aims, assume that your learning is best done around the people, context, culture, and community dearest to you. Those around you know you best, and to really learn concretely any abstract concepts, and grow in character and competency, you need to be working alongside those you know and who know you.

+ WHAT ARE THE STARRED ITEMS IN SYLABUS?

Because we recognize many people will take our courses for credit, and also as free market courses, we’ve added a star next to any assignment that needs to be completed if one wants college credit (in addition to the one's left unstarred). We’ve left normal assignments w/o stars (of course you are encouraged to complete all the assignments, regardless, for they are all designed for your benefit).

+ HOW CAN I RECEIVE COLLEGE CREDIT FOR MY COURSE WORK?

We are always working to partner with those who can give college credit to our courses. If a course can be taken for college credit, you’ll see a “scroll” icon in the thumbnail image. Click on the appropriate links within the course sales page to be taken to our college partner’s pages.

+ EXPLAIN GROUP & CHURCH COMMUNITY COLLABORATION & DISCUSSION?

We encourage you on most of our courses to enlist a group from your church or community to go through the content together. We learn better together. If a course contains discussion forums, access to safely monitored environments for the sake of assignment sharing and creative collaboration, or allows you to purchase access to the course as a group at a group discount, it will be noted on the sales page.

Please note, if your group desires feedback from our instructor or professor, you must still purchase credits for your whole group.

A 1-hour credit can count for the whole group, not solely toward an individual.
